national countryside week

National Countryside Week is our annual awareness campaign to celebrate the British countryside and the people who live and work in our rural areas.

This year, between Monday 14th and Sunday 20th July we are encouraging everyone to get together with friends, colleagues or family and take a walk in the countryside.

As well as organising your own walk, many of our 90 projects and supporting companies have arranged walks you can join and take part in. All proceeds from the walks will go towards the work of the Fund. Don’t forget to take your ‘walkie’ on your walk and you could appear on a photo wall below!

Where your donation goes

The Prince’s Countryside Fund, set up by Business in the Community in 2010, has so far given over £3.8 million in grants distributed to over 90 projects across the country, directly benefitting 64,000 people. Projects that have been funded range from apprenticeships for budding hill farmers, training for young people to gain employment in the rural economy, community transport schemes in isolated rural areas and projects to educate school children about where their food comes from and why the countryside matters. All the projects focus on supporting the people who care for our countryside and make it tick.

Planning your own walk

If you are planning your own walk during National Countryside Week and are looking for ideas, then visit www.walkingworld.com who have a host of walks available to download.

Whilst out on your walk please don't forget about the countryside code! Following the countryside code helps to protect and preserve rural areas now and for the future. You can find full details of the Countryside Code on the Natural England website.

Also don’t forget to tweet us your ‘walkie’ on route so we can feature the walk below and text PCF to 70300 to make a £3 donation to the Fund!

Alternatively join us at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire for the CLA Game Fair where we will be hosting special walks with our celebrity ambassadors Alan Titchmarsh, Phil Vickery and JB Gill!
