Dear Subscribers,
Happy New Year from the PCF team. The last couple of months have been incredibly busy for the team, we have had a visit by HRH Prince of Wales to one of our projects, attended the Oxford Farming Conference and have been pulling together ideas for this year’s National Countryside Week.

Thank you so much to everyone who applied in this round. The standard of applications was incredibly high with a high level of demand. We received funding applications that totalled £5.7 million. We will shortly be announcing those who will be receiving a grant, so watch this space!
Dry Stone Walling Association
It is fantastic to hear that thanks to the Fund the Dry Stone Walling Association have now appointed a Training and Education Coordinator. This will now enable them to expand the existing training provision in dry stone walling; to provide clear advice about the opportunities for training and examination in the craft; to facilitate partnerships between appropriate bodies to develop apprenticeships and bursary schemes for young wallers.
Oxford Farming Conference
We kicked off the year at the Oxford Farming Conference. The theme for this year was the Power of Agriculture. It raised questions on where the economic, political and natural resource power lies in world agriculture and asked what does this mean for UK farmers.

There were some interesting talks, notably one from Bob Watson, the government’s Chief Scientific Adviser; Caroline Spelman Secretary of State for Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Sue Davies, Chief Policy Advisor, Which?
